Activities organized by PTA (2010) :
1) 20th Feb 2010 -
The Chinese New Year Celebrations arranged by the PTA with the help of
the teachers on Saturday night, 20 Feb was welcomed by the parents and
children and the response was overwhelming. The presentation included
lion dances, a fashion show by teachers, dances and songs by students
and parents.
On Thursday, PTA arranged
for the lion dances to come to the school twice - in the morning and
afternoon sessions in the DOKK hall. The students were really thrilled
to see the lion dances.
2) 2nd June 2010 - Friendship and Environment Day
Activities organized by PTA (2009) :
1) 13th February 2009
- “SPN21 – Briefing by St. Andrew’s School”
The School organized a briefing for all parents on SPN21 and we were
invited to sit on the panel.
2) 17th March 2009 - “Day without School Uniform”
This is our annual fund raising project. The theme for Upper Primary and
Secondary Level, was “I am proud to be a St. Andrew’s student because
………..”. Children had to create posters to depict the theme. Level of
creativity and participation were extremely high. The following classes
emerged victorious.

3) 4th April 2009 - “Form 5 Peer Tutoring”
This project is an on-going one and continued from last year. We decided
to hold it earlier in order to assist the Form 5 students to be better
prepared for their ‘O’ Level Examinations.
Tutoring sessions are held every Saturday from 1:00pm to 2:30pm whereby
fellow students assist their weaker peers sharing tips on answering past
years’ examination papers etc. We carried it out for one term only.
Reason being that the School was also running extra and remedial classes
at the same time.
4) 27th to 28th April 2009 - “Book and ICT Fair”
This activity was organized for the first time. Again it was for fund
raising purposes. At the same time, a Rubik cube competition was held
for the Primary and Secondary Sections.
5) Funds raised by the PTA from 2008 “Golden Jubilee Fun Fair”, “Day
without School Uniform” and “Book and ICT Fair”, will go towards the
running of our Association with the balance being chanelled back to the
School via CCA , ECA clubs and societies.
A sub-committee headed by Sandra Tang (treasurer) was put in-charge of
the above matter. Heads of clubs and societies had to write-in to the
PTA stating what items they required, along with reasons for their
requests. The deadline for the first round of requests was 30th April
2009. Due to the cancellation of all ECA and sports events, PTA will be
buying those approved items for the next academic year 2010.
6) In June, PTA had an informal meeting with all Heads of
Department (Secondary Section) on general feedbacks of teachers, areas
whereby PTA can help with the Teaching Staff in both the teaching and
social fields. Meeting was a huge success and PTA in future will work
closely with HODs.
7) On 11th July, together with the Senior School Administrator,
PTA had a dialogue session with the School’s Canteen operator. Whereby
it was highlighted that PTA will be assisting the School in monitoring
the general hygiene of the foods served by the Canteen and the premises.
PTA will be conducting unannounced inspection periodically.
7) On 2nd October in collaboration with the School, the PTA
invited Mr. Phua, an educationist with more than 30 years of experience
both as a teacher and principal, to give a talk to parents on “Growing
Up With Your Child”. Turnout on that day was extremely. Parents deeply
appreciated the talk and gained an insight on how to handle children
during their different phases of their student life.
