LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT SYSTEMS
The teachers use a variety of teaching methods including directed assignments, laboratory based work, projects and practical work. They are encouraged to be flexible in their approaches to classroom teaching to meet the general needs and level of understanding of the students.

Regular class assignments, oral and written exercises, group projects, and homework are given on a regular basis.

Students from Pry 6 are required to sit for PSR, Year 8 students for SPE and Sec 5 students for GCE "O" Level Examinations. St. Andrew's School has maintained a proud tradition of achieving a high academic performance in all public examinations.

Students in other levels have to sit for the 1st topical test, mid-year examination 2nd topical test and end-of-year examination.

The School follows closely the Government's syllabus in SPN21, school terms and school holidays as set by the Ministry of Education.

The assignments and tests are considered as some of the ways of preparing students for school and public examinations.

Subject teachers place great emphasis on assignments and homework done neatly, in the correct format, and submitted on the due date. Parents are urged to check and review their children’s work regularly.

MONITORING PROGRESS

Reports will be sent home to parents for information at the end of each examination. Students who have not done well in the examinations will be required to meet and discuss their weaknesses with the teachers in the presence of their parents.

Reports, letters and circulars are sent to parents whenever there is a pressing need for doing so.

Parent - teacher interviews form part of the normal routine of the school. Parents should avail themselves of every opportunity to see the teachers.

In the Secondary Section in addition to the report books a statement of marks is also given to each student after every assessment test.

In the Primary Section a report is given to all students after every assessment test.
